Bike throttle hack

So do you have bad wrists like me, and using a twist throttle, like this, hurts after a bit? IMG_20251012_141330265_HDR Well I have a hack I thought to try that my uncle, who was a biker used to do. Here's what you need: IMG_20251012_141324849 2 zip ties
1 or 2 elastic bands
0 pride as this will look a bit junky if you care about that kind of stuff. I don't so let's go!

First wrap the rubber bands around the throttle to give some traction so your zip ties don't move around. I guess you could maybe put electric tape or something. I just thought of that after the fact, but I find rubber bands work awesome as I did this on my other throttle bike. IMG_20251012_141413772_HDR

Next take your zip ties and have the connector things point towards you on the bike, as these are going to be where you will put your thumb. IMG_20251012_141636331_HDR

Make sure they are in place to where you would put your thumb comfortably to use the throttle, as these are very hard to come off, and when you find they're in the right position comfortable for you, cut off their tails. IMG_20251012_141803470

As you can see, you put your thumb on the sticking out parts and it acts like a lever to move the throttle all the way to full. IMG_20251012_141823602 IMG_20251012_141836003 IMG_20251012_141832227 IMG_20251012_141834343

If you do care about the elastic bands showing through, it's best to make sure you have bands that are black, or close to the colour of the throttle. There was only very small black ones in my bag, but really I don't mind what it looks like. IMG_20251012_142344627_HDR

Safe and happy riding!
