Next to Nothing but a cup of coffee

Good morning, The funny face mug is in the wash, but we have Goon bringing us a different cup. Thanks Goon! IMG_20250919_040808274_HDR

The week is done, and what a busy week back from my vacation, but it's great being back into a routine. Though, after this week, I feel like I need another vacation.

Anyway onto the song shuffle of the day, which is one of my favourites bands, and one of the very first songs that got me into them. Screenshot_20250919-040616

The song is Next to Nothing from Tuxedomoon from their Pinheads On The Move album from 1987. I remember first hearing this band on Brave New Waves and Night Lines, which I'm sure has shaped my music tastes from when I was younger listening to this. I would supposed to be sleeping, but my grandpapa got me a walkman (though believe it wasn't the Sony brand, but a Radio Shack portable cassette player) knowing how I loved music, and it had a radio built into it. So I would plug in my earphones, plug the walkman into the wall with the adapter so I won't drain the batteries, and listen to this radio show all night. I vividly remember hearing one of those programs doing a special on Tuxedomoon. I fully remember it being Next To Nothing, New Machine, and Incubus Blue Suit being the songs featured. This walkman had a function that allowed you to record off it's radio and I always had a tape in there to hit record if I liked something. I wish I still had these tapes. It was instant love for this unique band. I hope you enjoy them as much as my pre-teen ears did many moons ago.

You can find more of them on bandcamp

Have a great Friday, and see you all later on with the freewriting piece as usual.
